Hamaari KaniyaaN

Hamaari kahaaniyoN meiN hum kahaaN reh gaye ...

NafrateiN aa gayiiN , siyaasat aa gayi , bhaddapan aa gayaa ...
Hum kahaaN reh gaye ?

Kya ye hamaari kahaaniyaN haiN ? Kya hum waaqai aaisey  haiN ? Agar jawaab "haaN" meiN miley to phir ye sochney ka muqaam hai ...

Pehley ke kahaanikaar-shaaer apni kahaaniyoN meiN , apni shaaeri meiN mohabbat ke raNg daalna nahi bhoola kartey thay
Manto huay ya PremchaNd , samaaj ki sachchaai bayaan kartey huay insaaniyat ka daaman nahi chhodtey thay
Sharaafat ke dhaagoN meiN pirotey thay apney jazbaat
Unn ki kahaaniyaN pardey par bhi huiiN agar to poorey khaandaan ke saath baith kar dekhtey huay koi jheNp nahi hoti thii ...

Aaj to duniya bahot hi civilised ho gayi hai ...  to phir kahaaniyoN meiN wo adab-o-adaab kyoN nazar nahi aatey ... Hum badtamiiz honay meiN fakhar kyoN mehsoos kartey haiN ?

Ibaadat

Alvida Juma is so called because it is the last Friday in the month of Ramzaan

That went by yesterday

Thank God ... With His kind grace this Holy month of fasting went off well for us ... Though one can only imagine how difficult it must have been for those who do manual labour and don't have enough to eat at the end of the day

God Ji has granted to us an infinite variety when it comes to following religious rituals like Namaaz , Roza , pooja , vrat etc

Like their names , the manner in which they are performed may differ too ... Not only from religion to religion , but from sect / caste / region etc also

But I am sure God Ji has a strict Uniform Code of Conduct when it comes to following the basic principles in religion ... Principles as in essence

The most elementary principles , on which every religion of the world stands ... justice , equality , fraternity , freedom of choice ( even the religion one wishes to follow ) ... And habits like speaking truth , honesty in business / personal dealing , respecting fellow human beings as well as all other creations of God ...

God Ji does not compromise on these basics

So it is abominable to see that rituals are preached as religion

While the basic principles which are the foundation of any religion remain on the periphery of religious discourses

And so ...

The ibaadat becomes more of a mere aadat ...

May God Almighty enlighten us to follow in  His true path

May He accept everyone's sincere ibaadat in whatever form it may have been offered or will be Inshaallah in the future

And may He reward everyone abundantly , joyfully and most beautifully

Religious Confusions

Ye kab hua , kaisey hua ... 🤔

KyoN ki to baat hi nahi kar rahey filhaal ... 🙂

Arrey yehi ... Mazhabiyat ka overdose ... !!!

Har koi preacher banaa hua hai aajkal

And you can never predict when a perfectly normal conversation would turn into a sermon ... !!!

Every time a discussion / conversation on why the Muslim community is facing backwardness , injustice and discrimination happens , you are loftily informed 👇🏽

"Log Qur'an padh to letey haiN , lekin samajhtey nahi haiN ... Khuda ke bataaye raastey se bhatkeiNgey to aur kya hoga ... ???"

Chalo ji ... Mil gayaa solution ... Ho gayi baat khatam ... !!!

I have read The Holy Qur'an in Arabic

Aur phir Urdu translation bhi kaafi hadd tak padha hai

But the preachers are not satisfied , they want you to "understand" the Message

They will tell you to read the interpretation of these holy verses done by religious scholars

And the ignorant me is wondering ke

... kaun haiN ye log jin ko asal meiN iss Aasmaani Kitaab ko samajhney ki zaroorat hai ... 🤔 ?

... kaun haiN jo bhatkey huay haiN ... ??

Aur kya hai wo baat jo sirf religious scholars samajh rahey haiN , lekin aam log-baag nahi samajh paa rahey haiN 🤔 ???

And why should I read someone else's interpretation ?

And that too of a centuries old text that is done by someone who lived in a time that is unimaginable in our time

Or even by someone who is a contemporary ?

Just because they have studied Arabic and know the language of The Qur'an doesn't mean they have understood the Message to the extent of imposing their point of view on others

Human intellect and knowledge is limited , and biased too , because like somebody has very rightly said , "no one sees what you see even if they see it too"

Is it any wonder then that our understanding and interpretation of anything and everything  ... be it a situation , a text , a relationship ... or whatever ... depends on where one is coming from

A lot also depends on what one is trying to prove , evade or justify ...

Even the people whose only mission in life is to malign Muslims claim to have read and "understood" The Holy Qur'an !

So everyone has interpreted it as per their intelligence , needs and above all their vested interests

Khuda ne duniya banaayi ... insaan-haiwaan , phool-phal , nadiyaN-jharney , pahaad-samunder , darakht-jungle , jhaadiyaN-biyabaan ... Aur bhi sab kuchh Khuda ne banaya ...

Lekin Khuda ne mazhab NAHI banayaa !

Mazhab insaan ne banayaa

In fact , mazhab mard ne banayaa

Aur very conveniently saarey dos and don'ts apney favour meiN rakh liye !

Dil rakhna , care karna farz meiN shumaar nahi hota hai ...

Ancestral property meiN female heirs ka hissa jaan-na hai to Sureh (chapter) “Nisa” padhiye ...

KyoN bhai  ???

Khud ke aNdar itni strength of character nahi hai ke sabhi legal heirs ko property meiN equal share diya jaaye ?

Aurat ke rights jaan-ney ke liye Sureh “Nisa” ki zaroorat hi kyoN padey , agar insaan ki niyat saaf ho , aur mard aur aurat ke huqooq (rights) baraabar (equal) hoN ?

Mazhab meiN Hajj aur Zakaat to farz haiN lekin imaandaari ko sirf ek guiding instruction batayaa hai , uss ko farz nahi karaa hai

Sharaab haraam hai lekin war haraam nahi hai

In fact war is even permitted !!!

HaaN naa ... !

War is allowed for "righteous" causes , like "ushering in peace" or "protecting" religion

But of course ... conditions apply so as to make a crime like war be regarded as "sacred" and can be justified ... !!!

So ... Don’t kill women , don’t kill children , don’t destroy crops , don’t kill priests , don't kill the aged or the sick ... Lekin generally killing men is okay ... !!!

We , Muslims believe that Qur’an was sent by God more than 1400 years back

Imagine the condition of women back then ...

And so came the clause of four marriages ... !

Four marriages were allowed to men under the pretext of extending legitimate protection to women who had lost their male protectors in wars

Wowwwwww ... !

"Neki" ki iss "aziim" inteha par koi fida ho hi naa jaaye ... !!!

Srsly !

Ramzaan ke ba-barkat mahiiney meiN aisey sarkash khayalaat ke liye koi jagah honi to nahi chaahiye ...

Lekin Facebook aisi jagah hai jahaaN arkash-sarkash-zarkash sab apni-apni kahaani kehtey rehtey haiN ...

Koi suney ya naa suney ... Apna dil halka ... Aur timeline bhaari ho jaati hai 😉😊🙏🏽 !

So ... Gustaakhi maaf ... May God Almighty be merciful and forgiving towards all His creations ... and may we stay on the righteous path and understand the difference between righteous and religious

Immortal Ishq

Love is the most beautiful
Immortal creation of God Almighty

He has made an imperfect and interdependent World
But there in this imperfection is a flawlessly perfect creation:
Love

Love cannot be anything but perfect
Because love is not a kiss or a hug or a man-woman relationship
Love is the purest manifestation of God Himself

Man may work hard to spread hatred in this world
Yet, Love survives and thrives and conquers
Because it is a divine blessing

May we all learn to love God instead of fearing Him
Let us keep him in our hearts
And not disgrace Him on the open streets

Love Stories in this Universe are written by God Himself
And He writes them with an indelible ink
And without an ending
He has created a circle of love
Because He does not want love to end ..... Ever

Food for thought

"It has often been said that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach and the best way to a woman's heart is through laughter and good conversation"

Such statements are a big proof that men and women have neither matured nor progressed from the time some misogynist tried to push women inside the kitchen !

Why should women go out of their way to please men anyway ?

Don't they have likes and dislikes of their own which must be respected too ?

Before you start cooking a meal, please consider giving some food for thought to your mind too 😊

Khair ... In my opinion cooking is a sacred activity ... Ibaadat hai ... You are preparing a meal that will nourish you and your family

Bhagwaan aur Kisaan ke baad , the cook is supreme 💖🙏🏽💖

Ye saarey khayaalaat aaj ka lunch banaatey huay mere dimaag meiN aaye to socha Facebook ke saath share kar leiN , aur jo bann kar tayyar hua hai wo bhi ...

Kasam se garmi meiN kitchen meiN paNkha chalaa kar cooking karney se dil ko badi thaNdak milti hai ...

Aur waise bhi this occasional cook has to blow the trumpet of her occasional kaargardgi 😄😄😄

Thank You God for the blessings we receive 🙏🏽💖🙏🏽

Good Evening family and friends

Happy Friday Eve

Alif

 "Alif" ...

The first letter of Urdu , Sindhi , Arabic , Persian , Dari , Tajik , Pashto , Kurdish and maybe some other scripts too , is written like the number 1

Incidentally the word "Allah" begins with an "alif"

In a deeper spiritual sense , in some of the monolithic faiths , because of its shape , "alif" symbolizes the Oneness of God as well as represents a metaphorical connection between The Supreme Creator and His creations ...

The proverbial "seedha raasta" / "the righteous path"

Like Sahir Ludhianvi says in one of his much-remembered film songs ...

"Aana hai to aa raah meiN kuchh pher nahi hai ... "

Aur Shuja Haider ne likha ...

"Chitiyan likh-likh yaar manaavaN

te yaar na hovey raazi

Rab sohney nu arz maiN paavaN

te dey dey duniya saari"

Shuja also says ...

"Nikal padaa maiN par phailaye

Thak gaya hooN dil behlaye

Aatish lagi aur tishangi

Seena yeh mera kyoN jalaaye ...

Alif bass harf nahi

Ye zarf hai kamaal ka

Ibtiba jahaan ki

Jawaab har sawaal ka"

The connection between man and God is a simple straight line when man chooses to stay connected with his conscience

Zamiir / Conscience / Soul se jab rishta tuut jaata hai , tab aadmi seedhey raastey se bhatak kar duniya bhar ke pheroN-chakkaroN meiN phaNs kar reh jataa hai

Aur agar ye baat samajh meiN aa jaaye ... to phir ibaadat , jis tarah se bhi kari jaaye , wo ek safar ki tarah se hoti hai ...

Safar ...

BaNdey ka ...

Aadmi se insaan banney tak ka ... 🙏🏼

Boundless Bonds

Although this may be said more vocally about finances and money, the fact that relations are the most unstable of all the possessions that one may ever be attached to can hardly be denied.

Most of one's relations are established at birth just as some other vitals like religion, gender, nationality etc are as helplessly determined. In addition to these predetermined specifics in one's life there are more associations that come along through societal responsibilities like marriage and work/profession, and also as simply as friendships forged over a period of time.

Of the relations so developed, the extension of family through marriage becomes as important and permanent as the relations by birth or what are more popularly known as blood relations. And perhaps these are more complicated too as in they often become defining factors in shaping the bonding between blood relatives. They tend to determine the strengthening and blossoming (or the withering away) of a family and thus determine the happiness (or the conflict) that could make or break an entire clan.

Therefore it is very important to choose these associations intelligently. But in a world full of imperfections, passion and selfishness this is easier said than done.
One is so painfully amazed to see crowded family courts full of once-upon-a-time loved ones facing one another with bitterness. And more painful is the fact that they are but a small portion of the vast majority of blood relatives locked in varying degrees of hateful rivalry.

A fair amount of friction cannot be ruled out though, if individuals have to interact and live in harmony.
Ironical as it may sound, the fact that no two individuals are same, and difference in opinion is considered a healthy sign of co-existence cannot be ignored.
Tact, transperancy and understanding assume great importance in building and cementing long-lasting togetherness specially in multi-dimensional relations.

How can understanding develop?
And how much of tact should be brought into use?
How much should one "give" in order to be able take something in a "give-and-take" venture?

These are questions that do not have a tailor-made answer. Nor is there a ready-reckoner on relations that can provide helpful formulas forever. But some broadly defined rules can be kept in mind.

The following may be guidelines of sorts:

1) Always place yourself in the position of the other in case of a conflict to "understand" the other's point of view.

2) Never try to seek perfection.

3) Do not "give" anything in charity to someone who does not require it. And never "give" in expectation of something in return.

4) Always have work areas well defined.

5) Have good fences and respect other's space and privacy.

And the most important thing to remember is that for a relationship to be enjoyable one must understand and be understood by the other.

This is where transparency comes in. In most circumstances misunderstandings start with petty things and soon ego takes over reason.
Ego is often confused with self respect ... but while self respect makes a man worthy, ego spells doom ... self respect is a source of dignified existence, ego undoubtedly causes devastation, not just for the egotist but by extension to associated relationships as well.

Balancing anything is difficult.
And balancing kinship is perhaps the most difficult of all balancing acts. But relationships are the most precious treasure of a human being because good relations bring more contentment than all the material wealth in the world.
Hence investment in relations must be as selfless an effort as is humanly possible.

And if earnest attempts are made, even in an imperfect selfish world it is not impossible to have workably fulfilling relationships. The most important ingredient that goes into the making of delicious kinships is a lavish quantity of sincerity dressed with the most exhilarating herbs namely tact, love and humaneness.

But having a family , preferably a clan that upon whom one can depend , is the greatest of all blessings and it is never late in life to mend your relationships , especially the ones that were spiritually and emotionally the spine on which your body of relationships stood

More about Muharram

It is a bit longish but still I am Copy-pasting my Facebook update in connection with Muharram here also :

" I have not read or academically explored Islamic History.
Whatever Islam I practice is from what I have seen in my family plus my own understanding of God's universal message through His countless Messengers.

So my perception is that The essence of That Divine Message remains the same.
But the Time and Place, Language and Ethnicity are obviously different.

Hence we see that while we celebrated the Victory of Truth and Purity over Evil yesterday, today, the of 10th Muharram, (Aashoora), we are remembering the ultimate sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Husain and his companions.

Also there are some lesser known facts associated with Aashoora (Day of Remembrance) that I came to know through google search on the subject.

Wonder if even the Muslims generally know that Ashoora marks the day that Moses and his followers (a.k.a The children of Israel / Bani Israel) were saved from Pharaoh by God by creating a path in the Red Sea.

Other forgotten, but very important commemorations include Prophet Noah leaving the Ark and Prophet Muhammad's arrival in Medina.

All these three events being significant victories of Truth over Evil.

Have a Peaceful Blessed Muharram Friends

When you go out all by yourself in a public transport bus or train don't you feel connected to people travelling with you ?

When you go to buy sabzi , phal , grocery , or when you go to the bank , or for a walk , or to a restaurant don't you feel connected to people in those places ?

When you are watching a film or a play or a concert in a theater , even if you may not be accompanied by family or friends don't you feel connected to people sitting there with you , as also the performers on the stage ?

Isn't it fascinating to come so close to people you ve never met before and may never meet them again in future ?

And yet you were destined to share those moments in that space with them ... ?

One may often feel awesome typing a Facebook status connecting with people in a world that exists in one's imagination ... or just sitting by the window and clicking selfies with the rain outside in a world that is for real ?

One can choose to ignore these amazing miracles of God

Or allow ourselves the luxury to be fascinated by them and be grateful to The Almighty ...

I say Buddy ! Choose the better option 🙂🙂🙂 !!!

Khuda ka mazhab Ishq hai

Jisey hum behadd pyaar karne ka daawa kartey haiN ussi ko sab se zyadaa dukh kyoN de detey haiN ...

Sangam ki Radha ho

Ya Antony ki Cleopatra

India ka Kashmir ho

Ya Israel - Palestine ka Jerusalem

Maa ke liye Beta

Biwi ke liye shauhar ...

And such other examples

Saari conflict domination and ownership ke liye hoti hai

Lekin kya mohabbat meiN ownership ki baat hoti hai

Sochiye ...

Mohabbat kahaaN hai

Where Love has gone ...

My husband's Chacha was an educationist , used to be on various advisory / interview committees of govt departments and his determination to work for women's education was amazing

He had set out as a teacher

Then became the principal and then marched higher up

Priceless wit , amazing class and a unique way to handle the youth made him an endearing personality

He was once appointed the Principal of a school that was notorious for a large number of indisciplined rogue element among it's students

He took up the challenge with his characteristic enthusiasm

After a month or so there was a high level meeting of the board where he was asked about his assessment of the situation

With his unique sense of humour he remarked :

"Students ko to maiN thiik kar dooNga ... Lekin teachers ke liye Principal ki nahi ... Paighambar ki zaroorat hai !!! "

Kaaaaash ...

koi Vighnaharta ...

koi ibn Maryam ...

koi aman ka paighamber ...

aaj ke daur meiN bhi aa jaaye kahiiN se ... aur ...

iss duniya ko zulm , agyaan , nafratoN aur dard ke aNdheroN se baahar nikaal de ...

Araafah

Two / three days back I read an interesting post on one of my friend’s timeline listing the benefits of being an atheist

Although I firmly believe that all beliefs, religious or otherwise are a matter of sensibility v/s senselessness, one can also not deny the fact that most atheists are the true believers and have not only understood The Messages of The Creator (that came via so many prophets), but are actually living their life according to the essence of all those Messages put together

A couple of days before Eid ul Zuha was celebrated, sitting with my chaai ka cup somewhere, I overheard a conversation, the dumb irony of which irritated me

So it went like ...

1st person :

"Allah has created ease for the people in worship and belief ... Everything is based on logic and neeyat ... He is All-knowing and knows you inside out "

2nd person :

"Yeah .. Will be fasting on  the day of Araafah ... But I am a little confused, because going by the lunar calendar in India we are a day behind Saudi Arabia ... So on what date should I fast ?"

3rd person :

"My friend lives in Dubai, they've given money for qurbaani in India, following the lunar calendar and sighting of moon we are celebrating Eid on different days, unn ki qurbaani qubool  hogi bhi ya nahi ... ???"

4th Person :

"Will it be against Islam if we show pics of Khaan e K'aba ( House of God / Holy K’baa ) to our children ... ?!!!"

Call this thinking what you will

But in my humble opinion in the hands of Confused / Semiliterate / Over-thinking / Frightened followers, religion becomes a bondage that closes minds and enslaves souls ... and quite often it becomes a weapon that can mercilessly kill logic !!!

****************************************************************************

A word about why Mount Arafaat is important to the Muslims and what is the day of Araafah :

It is believed that the Prophet was standing at Mount Arafaat on a Friday when this momentous message from God was delivered to him

It said :

"Today I have perfected for you your religion and completed upon you My blessing and I have chosen for you Islam as [your] religion”’.

That day known as "Araafah" is hence considered an especially blessed one

Even before the time of Prophet Mohammed , Hajj was prevalent and Pilgrims used to travel to Arafaat and spend time in prayer and asking for forgiveness

Mount Arafat also known as “mountain of mercy” is a granodiorite hill near Makka

Mummy ka purse

Bahot thaki hui thi ... sleep-deprived bhi thi uss din ... friend ke ghar dinner par jaanaa tha ... bilkul dil nahi chaah rahaa tha

Lekin koi bahaana bhi kaam nahi aa rahaa tha 😊

So ...

Just half an hour meiN nahaa-dho kar , saari लपेट kar सोती सूरत se लाइवली मूरत bann kar tayyar ho hi gaye hum 🤗😄🥳

Lekin yaar saath meiN purse kaun sa le jaaooN ... 🤔🤔🤔

I usually am not the one who matches purses and footwear with clothes ... But pataa nahi , shaaed neeNd ka khumaar poori tarah utra nahi hoga , tabhi to dil khwaaboN waali khwaahish kar rahaa tha ...

Thi to ye bahot be-mauqa baat because I was getting delayed be-kaar meiN

Aur ye matching purse ki chaahat ... Kya bhai ... Koi aur kaam nahi hai 😛😎😄???

But dil ki chaahat thi ... Aur dil kabhi kuchh chaahey to ussey be-sabab nahi samajhna chaahiye ... KyoN ke dil ke apney hi reasons hotey haiN ... Shaaed aNgrezi meiN issi ko Sixth Sense kehtey haiN 😍

To bhai rummaging through the drawers of my cupboard I had no idea what a treasure was waiting to be discovered till my fingers touched an old black and red leather clutch ...

Mummy ko maiN ne gift karaa tha , yaad nahi kab ❤️

She had brought two of her clutches when she had come to my place

In the smaller one she used to keep all the small coins and currency notes

Whenever anyone needed "chhutta" they knew where to look for it 😄

The bigger clutch was exactly to suit my purpose that evening

Perfect match Maa 👍🏽👌🏽🥰😊💖💖💖

Friend ke ghar , after dinner I was showing it off to everyone ... "Aaj mujhe Mummy ka purse mil gayaa ..." , and saying this , I opened it ... honestly for no reason ...

There was this worn out piece of paper inside ...

She used to make a list of her medicines at the beginning of the month

Here it was ...

In her own handwriting 😊✍🏽💖✍🏽😊 !!!

Lovvvvvvve you Momzii ... Happy Birthday to you ... JahaaN bhi haiN apney bachchoN aur unn ke bachchoN ke liye duaaeiN bhejti raheiN 💖🥰💐💖🥰💐💖🥰💐

Hum aap ki yaad meiN two extra cups chaai piiney jaa rahey hai

Jai Shree Raam 🙏🏼

Three-four days back ... der shaam ko mere darwaaze par kisi ne ghaNti bajaayi

The time was such that I was not expecting anyone except my elderly neighbour ... Shaaed 🤔

She suffers from an acute knee problem so whenever I think it is her at the door , I go as fast as I can to let her in ...

And btw , ghaNti bajaaney ka andaaz meri neighbour se kaafi milta-julta sa tha

She is a very sweet lady , and a great cook too ... So wo jab kabhi kuchh special banaati haiN to hum ko bhi zaroor khilaati haiN ...

Waise bhi der shaam ko ya to wo didi ya phir family ke alawa mere ghar koi nahi ataa

So I opened the door expecting the pados waali Didi , but instead I was greeted with an enthusiastic  "Jai Shree Raam" by a couple of men whose presence seemed so dense that inspite of being just two or three of them , they seemed to be all over the place !!!

Zaraa si der ke liye to maiN samajh hi nahi paayi ke kaun aaye haiN

Phir lagaa ke shaaed koi donation leney aaye hoNgey

Meanwhile one of the men said "Raam Mandir ka udghatan hai ..."

Preoccupied with my thoughts , trying to figure out their identity my spontaneous response was ... "तो ... ???"

He said "To kuchh nahi , ab sab log desh meiN prem se raheiNgey"

He handed me an envelope

And I said "Ji"

Ummid par duniya qaaem hai ... Unn mahashay ne sach hi kahaa hoga ... ke ab sab log prem se reh sakeiNgey ...

So hum ne bhi agreement zaahir kartey huay "Ji" keh diya hai

Praying For Peace

Most of the discussion that happens on the Israel-Palestine conflict these days confines itself to the controversial (in fact cunning) Belfour Declaration and the events that happened as a result , especially after 1948 , a time when Britain and America were acting like the owners of this planet !

By the way , they still are behaving like that only , putting their feet and fingers anywhere and everywhere !!!

But the earliest accounts after Hazrat Moosa led his followers to safety and the army of Pharaoh was drowned in the Red Sea is absent from the popular discourse

Daadi Ammi hamaari bachpan meiN Hazrat Moosa (Prophet Moses) aur unn ke bhai Hazrat Haroon (Prophet Aaron) ke struggles ki kahaani sunaya karti thiiN , and I would always be overwhelmed with awe and respect in honour of Prophet Moses ... the food that they used to get from Heaven (The Manna-Salva) ... his magical staff and the miracles associated with it ... his closeness to God so much so that he is referred to as “Moosa Kaliimullah” because he used to converse with God ... And of course ! God’s “Promised Land” to Bani Israel !!!

My ... My ... What a divinely gifted Prophet Hazrat Moosa was !!!

That was childhood, so pure and innocent, that's a time you are learning what is good about the faith / religion you are born into

But as one grows up, some blessed ones are destined to realise that in politics religion is twisted and then politicised , hand-picking some sentences and words from religious texts to craft a narrative to suit the political agenda that is being worked on continuously to divide people for materialistic , monetary or territorial gains

Let us never forget that every religious text , even the Qur'an which Muslims believe has not changed from the time it was revealed to Prophet Muhammed, is open to various interpretations , and have been interpreted differently at different times to please political powers and patriarchal forces

And hence the understanding that the Message contained in these divine books have not changed is the biggest illusion

Coming back to Prophet Moses ...

After the Ten Plagues , Prophet Moses led the Exodus of the Israelites out of Egypt and across the Red Sea , after which they based themselves at Mount Sinai , where Prophet Moses received the Ten Commandments.

The “Promised Land” that is so much being talked about these days was, as per one information available on Wikipedia, promised to Prophet Abraham even before his sons were born

But according to subsequent confirmation, God had promised Abraham that there would be a "Promised Land" for the nations to come out of his son, Isaac

So be it, let us believe in the subsequent confirmation

The land of Canaan that the Twelve Spies were to explore was the same Promised Land.

The Twelve Spies, as recorded in the Book of Numbers, were a group of Israelite chieftains, one from each of the Twelve Tribes, who were dispatched by Moses to scout out the Land of Canaan for 40 days as a future home for the Israelite people , during the time when the Israelites were in the wilderness following their Exodus from Ancient Egypt.

Moses asked for an assessment of the geographic features of the land , the strength and numbers of the population , the agricultural potential and actual performance of the land , civic organization (whether their cities were like camps or strongholds) , and forestry conditions.

He also asked them to be positive in their outlook and to return with samples of local produce.

Ten of the twelve chieftains came back with negative reports about the land , thus slandering what they believed God had promised them. They did not believe that God could help them , and the people as a whole were persuaded that it was not possible to take the land.

As a result , the entire nation was made to wander in the desert for 40 years , until almost the entire generation of men had died.

After 40 years of wandering in the desert , Moses died on Mount Nebo at the age of 120 , within sight of the Promised Land.

Joshua and Caleb were the two chieftains who had brought back a good report and believed that God would help them succeed.

They were the only men from their generation permitted to go into the "Promised Land" after the time of wandering.

(Waise The Twelve Spies vaguely remind me of the people mentioned in Sureh Kahef in The Holy Qur'an , have been curious forever to know more about them)

Anyway ... So wasn't the search for "The Promised Land" complete after Joshua and Caleb entered the land of Canaan ?

Their future generations must have lived on that land and made it their home

So now which other "Promised Land" is being talked about ?

Were the present day Americans also on a mission to find some "Promised Land" when they drove away the natives from the land they now occupy and call it The United States ???

Quite clearly this occupation under the pretext of "Promised Land" initiated by the British through "Belfour Declaration" is a play of power and politics in the most inhuman manner that is so typical of the colonists

There is most certainly no love for God or religion involved

Ilan Pappe , the British Israeli historian has rightly said ...

"Most Zionists don't believe that God exists, but they do believe that He promised them Palestine" !!!

But we do see what people who love God and respect their religion do

As Christmas draws nearer , a church in Bethlehem , the biblical birthplace of Jesus , is receiving attention for its decision to redesign its Christmas nativity scene to reflect the impact of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

Just weeks before Christmas , the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bethlehem , located in the West Bank , unveiled a new display of the nativity scene that shows baby Jesus lying in a manger amid rubble.

The imagery symbolizes the destroyed Palestinian communities in Gaza and the ongoing war between Israel and the Hamas , a church official said.

"Church families met last week and built it together. It was a moving experience for our families. During the service on Sunday, some people were in tears," Reverend Doctor Munther Isaac, the church's pastor, told The New Arab.

"We are pleased our message has reached the world. This is what Christmas looks like in Palestine this year, the origin of Christmas."

Peace and Sanmati

Throughout its long history , the holy city of Jerusalem has been destroyed at least twice , besieged 23 times , captured and recaptured 44 times , and attacked 52 times.

It is one of the oldest cities in the world , and is considered holy to the three major Abrahamic religions ... Judaism , Christianity and Islam.

Jerusalem is holy to Muslims for a number of reasons

Islamic tradition holds that Prophet Muhammad led prayers towards Jerusalem and hence it was the first Qibla , until the 16th or 17th month after his migration from Mecca to Medina

Another part of Jerusalem's significance and holiness to Muslims derives from its strong association with Abraham , David , Solomon and Jesus.

They are all regarded as Prophets of Islam and their stories are mentioned in the Qur'an

In Islamic tradition , Prophet Muhammad made his Night Journey(The Meraaj) there in 621 , ascending to heaven where he speaks to God , according to the Quran.

As a result, despite having an area of only 0.9 km2 (3⁄8 sq mi) , the Old City is home to many sites of seminal religious importance , among them the Temple Mount with its Western Wall , Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa Mosque , and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

During the Canaanite period (14th century BCE) , Jerusalem was named as Urusalim on ancient Egyptian tablets , probably meaning "City of Shalem" after The Canaanite God of dusk.

During the Israelite period , significant construction activity in Jerusalem began in the 10th century BCE (Iron Age II) , and by the 9th century BCE , the city had developed into the religious and administrative centre of the Kingdom of Judah.

In 1538 , the city walls were rebuilt for a last time around Jerusalem under Suleiman the Magnificent , of the Ottoman Empire.

Today those walls define the Old City , which since the 19th century has been divided into four quarters :

Armenian

Christian

Jewish

Muslim

The Old City became a World Heritage Site in 1981 , and is on the List of World Heritage in Danger.

Today, the status of Jerusalem remains one of the core issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

All branches of the Israeli government are located in Jerusalem , including the Knesset (Israel's parliament) , the residences of the Prime Minister and President , and the Supreme Court.

The international community rejects the annexation as illegal and regards East Jerusalem as Palestinian territory occupied by Israel.

As we are beginning the eight day Festival of Lights , Hanukkah , from this evening to 15th Dec , let's pray earnestly for peace and enlightenment

May God help the oppressed and the underprivileged like He helped His people back then when The Maccabees successfully revolted against Antiochus IV Epiphanes.

According to the Talmud , the Temple was purified and the wicks of the menorah miraculously burned for eight days , even though there was only enough sacred oil for one day's lighting

(Talmud (/ˈtɑːlmʊd, -məd, ˈtæl-/; Hebrew: תַּלְמוּד‎, romanized: Talmūḏ) is the central text of Rabbinic Judaism and the primary source of Jewish religious law (halakha) and Jewish theology.)

Sab ko sanmati deiN Bhagwaan

On the eve of Hanukkah , here's praying for everyone's Happiness , Health , Peace and Prosperity Amen🙏💖💐💐💐

Wishing everyone a blessed Hanukkah

Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving

Eating Thanksgiving leftovers for a fusion brunch , this morning while watching some deliciously enlightening and informative history of what could have been the first Thanksgiving meal , I stumble upon one of countless instances that go unnoticed as we take for granted the quiet cycles of Nature that determine among other things various food chains and the behavioural patterns of the many diverse living beings who co exist with us ...

Served at the first Thanksgiving were corn , beans , and squash. These three vegetables were brought to the table by Native Americans , and they were the three crops that Native Americans taught pilgrims to grow in their new terrain.

Three sisters , as these are called  Corn , Beans and Squash can grow in one field and they actually support the survival of one another

Maize (Corn) the tallest , supports the Bean creepers that in turn support the Maize to stand firm in winds as it entwines itself to the stalks of Maize plants

And the Squash spreads itself on the soil controlling the growth of weeds , and also capturing sunlight and preserving moisture in the soil.

Agronomist Jane Mount Pleasant writes that the Three Sisters mound system "enhances the soil physical and biochemical environment , minimizes soil erosion , improves soil tilth , manages plant population and spacing , provides for plant nutrients in appropriate quantities and at the time needed , and controls weeds".

These life-supporting plants were supposedly given to the people when all three miraculously sprouted from the body of Sky Woman's daughter, granting the gift of agriculture to the Iroquois nations.

To the Iroquois people , The Three Sisters ... Corn , Beans and Squash ... are the physical and spiritual sustainers of life.

In the mythology of the Iroquois and Huron of North America , the Woman Who Fell from the Sky is an ancient ancestor.

Also known as Sky Woman or Ataensic , she plays a central role in the creation of the earth and all living things.

She is also a figure of fertility who provides the first corn to people.

Isn't it interesting to see how science and mythology team up to add charm , spice and meaning to human existence ...

ay we learn to enjoy our histories , not take the ancient bows and arrows too seriously , live in peace , mutual respect and love , and may God bless us , our loved ones , our ancestors and our future generations 💖🎊🎉💐💐💐

Hatred and Revenge: A sinful circle

Indira Gandhi fell to assassins' bullets this day 39 years ago , on 31st Oct, 1984

India has come a long way since then , "which way" is a question that will be answered with extreme bias ,

So nahi detey jawaab !

I hear people talking of their proud history of five thousand years and more ... Ask them what is the pride about ... And they ll narrate stories , which are nothing but hearsay , of how one dynasty fought and conquered the other , and so they have to either settle scores or take the credit of all those wars and be proud of their scheming ancestors ...

And they have to thus justify all the violence , crime and sin that is happening in the present time

Urkrain-Russia to kal ki baat ho gayi

Ab to market meiN nayi war aa gayi hai ...

Aur logoN ne gyaan baaNtna bhi shuru kar diya hai

Unn ka kya jataa hai ...

Social media par bakwaas kar ke koi vulgar si maa-behen karti hui film dekh leiNgey ... Phir vegan food khaa kar insaanoN ko marta dekh kar apna qeemati izhaar e khayaal share kareiNgey ... !!!

They are not bothered about hunger , thirst , disease , killing ...

And why should they bother ?

Unn ka kaun sagaa wahaaN suffer kar rahaa hai ?

Remind them of insaaniyat , but they are still not bothered ... after all insaan ka roop to mil hi gayaa hai ... Ab to "Sher" ban-naa hai sabhi ko ... !!!

As we in India remember the brutal assassination of Mrs Indira Gandhi , and the mayhem that followed , the memories of that dreadful time are blurred by posts on social media about the Israel-Hamas war

One of the holiest patches on Earth ... the place that should have ideally been the meltng pot of cultural and religious heritage and a treasure chest of shared natural , ancestral and spiritual opulence , and hence one of the most peaceful places on Earth ... is burning with animosity , antipathy and intolerance

What a pity ...

Even as history repeats itself , people hardly learn

No solutions ... only war , killings , barbarism ... ?????????

And me the idiot was wondering why do civilians need firearms ? Or any weapons at all ... 🤔🤔🤔

Live And Let Live

As she hums a lullaby putting her baby to sleep , the woman is in deep thought ... she is thinking of the hundreds of lives her husband , a dacoit must have ruined ... perhaps she tries to imagine the suffering he (the infant's father) and his gang of dacoits must have caused to thousands of others when they plundered and looted homes and villages ... !

The mother's heart is aflutter !

"Tere bachpan ko jawaani ki dua deti hooN ... Aur dua de ke pareshaan si ho jaati hooN "

She is frightened that the curse put upon her husband by his victims may bring harm to their child ...

This intensely soul stirring poetry , set to music by Jaidev , sung by Lata Mangeshkar (on screen lip synced by Waheeda Rahman) , stands out in the classic and timeless album "Mujhe Jeeney Do" , a film based on real life dacoit stories from the Chambal Valley

An extremely heart wrenching prognostication written by Sahir Ludhianvi , poignantly expressing the fears of the disquiet wife of a dacoit over what the future may hold for her child , is relevant for all times and ages

Mothers of the children of plunderers / hate mongers / terrorist / rioters / war mongers and anyone anywhere who destroys the peace and resources of this planet and kills people should be similarly worried for their Gen Next ... !!!

Imagine how beautiful this world would become if the Think Tanks , The Masterminds and The Footsoldiers who plan and execute wars and violence , hatred and destruction would start thinking like this mother ... if not for themselves , then for their coming generations ... !!!
